To Weave: Cohabitations

For some time now, young artistic communities have been weaving new forms of creation and collaboration, inhabiting shared spaces where art becomes a vehicle for innovation, transformation, and social change. These communities have found in cohabitation a powerful tool to strengthen their practices and amplify their voices, fostering environments where disciplines engage in dialogue and mutually enhance one another.

Cohabitation, in this case, is not merely a practical arrangement, but a conscious choice that encourages mutual support and the exchange of both tangible and intangible resources—knowledge, stimuli, visibility—creating a shared flow of development in which a duality between the intimate and the collective emerges. In these contexts, intimacy becomes a starting point for action, and observation becomes a form of contact, of presence, of care.

Clarice Lispector wrote: I wonder, if I look at darkness through a magnifying glass, would I see anything other than darkness?¹

Following that reflection, one must ask: what happens before something is named? What lies in that prior space, when everything is still undefined, yet already hints at possibility? To Weave: Cohabitations positions itself precisely there—in latency, in the beginning, in the first glance. It is a form of contact, of presence, of care.

Observation as impulse, as a way to activate, to open a process. A way of engaging with what surrounds us that places attention on what does not scream: a speck of dust, a shadow, a pause.

Ángela Jiménez Durán, Hodei Herreros, Lara Ordóñez, Nuria López Blanco, Adela Angulo Portugal, Caterina Miralles, Maï Diallo, Isabel Merchante, Lola Zoido, Andy Luego, Natalia López de la Oliva, Arta del Harte, Irene Molina, Juan Couder, and Alejandro Manzano are fifteen young artists whose practices—diverse in form and language—share a sensibility rooted in the personal and transformed into collective matter.

An imaginary grounded in memory and archive, the domestic, the spiritual, language, or territory. All speak from the same yearning: to observe, to inhabit, and to share what is not yet.
