Granada Spain 1997

Irene Molina (Granada, 1997) explores the relationships that emerge at the intersection of virtual objects and the physical body. Through an interdisciplinary and experimental approach, her practice bridges matter and screen, shaping environments where the sculptural coexists with computational processes and networked visualities. She works with photogrammetry, 3D printing, metal welding, animation, and simulation to translate files, models, and image flows into spatial experiences. Irene Molina

A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Granada and with a Master’s in Artistic Production from the University of Málaga, Irene Molina received the BMW Painting Prize in the Digital Art category in 2022 and was part of the 21st residency cohort of the Antonio Gala Foundation. Her work has been presented at institutions such as Cidade da Cultura de Galicia (Phygital Land, 2025), Rifugio Digitale and Palazzo Pucci in Florence (2025), and at the LUX Festival in Málaga (Hypergarden, 2024). She has also participated in fairs such as Focus Art Fair at Saatchi Gallery (London, 2025), UVNT Art Fair, and the Mayrit Biennial.

She lives and works in Madrid, where she develops projects that examine how we inhabit a hyper-technological present through the lens of corporeality and touch. She is interested in how digitally mediated objects acquire volume, friction, and time once they leave the screen. Her practice unfolds at the intersection of the digital and the physical, exploring the hybrid relationships that emerge between these realms. Through techniques such as photogrammetry, 3D printing, and digital animation, Irene Molina constructs landscapes and objects that operate as bridges between sculptural materiality and the immaterial possibilities of the screen. In her work, digital error ceases to be a technical flaw and becomes an aesthetic agent that challenges our perception of space and sensory experience in an era of omnipresent virtuality. At the core of her artistic practice lies a persistent question: how can we inhabit the digital present from a material body? Irene responds to this inquiry by creating objects and environments that, between artifice and simulation, generate a critical dialogue about our relationship with virtual environments and the altered ecologies of the 21st century.
