Essence is what makes a being or an object what it is. And it existed before art. Long before the artist knew he was an artist, before historians realized they were making history, the different creators were already exploring, without being aware of it, the most basic thing they could explore: themselves. They talked, debated, wrote and wondered. They met. They searched together for the essence above all else. And they found it. The essence of art, the purity of it, that extreme where the simple becomes complicated, where everything comes out, just like that, from the inside. Like an impulse. Simply art: without artifice, without noise... essence. The most elemental of art and life. The only and indispensable thing, what makes something to be, and art, art.
